Education

North Staffordshire Secondary School

This project saw UK Fire & Safety install Apollo's Addressable Door Retainer (ADR) to fulfil the complex needs of an educational facility.

The main issue addressed was the need for a more efficient, cost-effective fire safety solution that eliminated complex wiring and hardware by integrating loop-powered door retainers directly into the fire alarm system.

The Challenge

The project required an efficient fire safety solution that avoided the traditional approach of separate power supply units and interfaces for every set of double doors. The goal was to streamline installation, save on labour and equipment costs, and meet end-user needs with a tidy, compliant system.

The Solution

UK Fire & Safety, who oversaw the the project, chose the Apollo loop-powered door retainers (ADR) to enable direct integration into the fire alarm loop, eliminating the need for additional wiring and offering a simplified and cost-effective solution. The project was delivered in collaboration with Bourne Electrical Contractors, a long-standing installation partner that has worked with UK Fire & Safety for over 20 years. The project manager, Matt Davis, helped lead a smooth and collaborative design and implementation process. This trusted relationship enabled them to provide the client with a fully integrated, turnkey fire safety solution.

Apollo is a recognised leader in the fire detection sector. When they launched their addressable door retainer range, we felt confident in adopting it, knowing the reliability and quality behind the brand. The Apollo solution allowed for faster installation with fewer components, reducing complexity and overall costs. The robustness of their devices, alongside their strong market reputation, made Apollo the clear choice. Additionally, we had the flexibility ("carte blanche") on this project to trial a new approach and it worked seamlessly.
